Frédéric Hernandez began his music studies with the piano. Then, following a full curriculum in Early Music at the Regional Conservatory of Strasbourg, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon in the harpsichord and continuo classes of Françoise Lengellé, Dirk Boerner and Yves Rechsteiner. There he received the Premier Prix in harpsichord and continuo, subsequently doing postgraduate work with Béatrice Martin in Barcelona as well as within sessions and master classes with Jesper Christensen, Pierre Hantaï, Christophe Rousset and Blandine Verlet. He presently teaches at the Regional Conservatory in Rouen.
A semifinalist in the Bruges International Competition in 2004, he accompanied Benoît Toïgo in the final round of the same competition in 2005, joining him to found the Les Lunes du Cousin Jacques ensemble.
He has performed in varions productions such as La Giuditta by Alessandro Scarlatti (conducted by Martin Gester) and the Saint John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach, collaborating with various ensembles: Ensemble 415, the Orchestre de Bretagne, Le Poème Harmonique, the Rouen Opera orchestra.
