Domenico Scarlatti

Sonates & Fandango

Sonatas and fandango: a panorama of the inexhaustible universe of Domenico Scarlatti, an Italian who settled in Portugal, then Spain, and who, as a contemporary noted, was able to incorporate in his music ‘the songs of cart drivers, muleteers and other modest folk’. The great Scarlatti was amongst those who, in the first half of the 18th century, brought to its peak the art of the harpsichord, that most precious instrument.
