Une jeunesse intrépide
‘Out of my long-standing fascination for Brahms’s music world, I selected three very different pieces, composed in 1853/1854 by a then 20-yr old musician : Variations in D minor – Originally for string sextet, the splendid Four Ballads, seem to open new stylistic perspectives… The Third Sonata (opus 5!) - the only piece Brahms submitted to Robert Schumann during its compositional process’.
